POSITIVE AGEING AMBASSADORS
Guidance and support in your community
The Positive Ageing Ambassador Project is a pilot project which began in the autumn of 2019 and aims to recruit local businesses or service providers to become ‘Positive Ageing Ambassadors’.
The team of Positive Ageing Ambassadors receive guidance and support from staff here at Age Connects Neath Port Talbot who provide training, regular visits, information, literature and details of local support services available for older people. The Ambassadors act as 'Local Community Leaders' to ensure that support is user led, creates a positive experience of ageing and ensures local residents feel involved, appreciated, more confident, healthy and active within their community.
The Project helps to identify gaps in provision and liaises with providers in statutory, public and private sectors to maximise the impact of the project and enable older people to lead a more independent, healthy and fulfilling life in their community.
This Project is funded by the Mynydd Y Betws Community Benefit Fund for six months and the eligible wards include Pontardawe, Lower Brynaman, Gwaun Cae Gurwen and Alltwen.
